New Featured Artist - Gill Hobson

We are very excited to welcome back Gill Hobson in a showcase of her stunningly beautiful Glass and Metal sculptures.  

Gills’ signature works in glass feature richly intricate combinations of hand-blown crystal glass elements with complex metal work. Detail, colour and light are key aspects of each piece.
Gill creates one of a kind studio pieces influenced by archaeological references and observations of the elegant principles that underlie seemingly random configurations in nature.

Hallam members of the SDC Exhibition - showing for just 13 days!

Our next exhibition promises to be a visual treat for all of you who love contemporary crafts and design. Exhibition dates 1st - 13th Nov 2011

Showcasing local members of this national group, the Hallam members of the Society of Designer Craftsmen will be offering you the chance to "Shop within a Show". An Exhibition at The Beetroot Tree showcasing designer crafts, art and jewellery at affordable prices. A range of mediums will be shown including Textiles, Fused Glass, Ceramics, Print, Wire and Silver Jewellery.

The Society has a mission statement which is to "promote and support the work of creative thinkers, designers and makers who continue to innovate in the crafts through their exploration of materials and skills." (taken from http://www.societyofdesignercraftsmen.org.uk/about.html)

Featured artists include Marion  Anniss, Lucy Coyne, Stevie Davies, Sandra Goddard, Jacqueline  James,  Sue  Lancaster, Kerry Mosley, Helen  Neale, Deborah Newbould, Jeanette  Slingsby, Vicky Tansley, Eileen Wilding, Fiona Wilson and  Janet Zaccaria.

What a fantastic range of workshops, craft courses and art sessions we have here at The Beetroot Tree.  Whether you fancy coming to play with a new medium or technique at our Monday Morning Try It workshops, joining a specialist tutored day in any medium from Fused Glass to Machine Embroidery (and everything in between) or booking your own tailor made event for a birthday, hen do or Christmas party.  There is something for everyone!

Is there anything missing?   We are always one the look out for new tutors using new processes to join our long list course and workshops that we can offer. If you want to learn a particular technique or have a go with a particular medium, contact us with your suggestions.

Two half day GLASS workshops with Stevie Davies in August

Stevie is offering two 'taster sessions' on Sunday 28th August at The Beetroot Tree.
In the morning you can create a 'Fused Glass Pendant and Earring Set' from 10.30am to 1pm.
In the afternoon you can try your hand at 'Fused Glass Mosaic Tiles or Dishes' from 2pm to 4.30pm.
Each session is only £30 per person and if you book on both we will even give you a free lunch!!!!
